Things look tiny from above

So we did it, we took this little plane and flew over the west coast of USA with my older brother who is a premiered pilot and it went well as you can see from my writing in this blog. And yes, it has been magical. The first day, when we saw how the little plane went from the ground to the air without any effort and we started to slowly fly over tiny trees in the mountains, it was amazing. We couldn't help to smile and be surprised by being able to fly. I directly understood why my brother has been flying with paragliders and fascinated by that continued to do it until he left his job in IT and started to study to be a pilot.
Sometimes we wore the headsets and could talk to each other but it was also nice (if not nicer) to wear the earplugs, don't hear anything and just look at the landscape. We flew over lakes, clouds, desserts, rivers, green and rocky mountains, over cities, fields... The clouds were fascinating, there could be so many types of clouds, some looked bumpy, others almost transparent and others were thick and looked like a real sea of clouds that would surely hold you if you went out. Sometimes you could suddenly see some trees between the clouds, and sometimes you could even see the ocean and that was more beautiful that I could even imagine.
It was a really neat experience and Washington state was very special with all the mountains and lakes. I also loved the wild west coast north of San Francisco, the sea and the clouds over the rugged coast. And when we flew over the Golden Gate in San Francisco we were all very excited, like, are we really doing this? Wow! I felt so lucky.
Everything was so little from above, we passed over houses, and people, not really aware of you, and then we saw some mountain, like Mount Baker, so immensely huge that you cannot really understand from below. We took so many pictures of this mountain, all looking alike... From the air we could see the limits of the fields and the start of the dessert, and then again the fields close to the mountains and you could understand the geography and how we- humans- build the cities, and the roads, etc. Let's say you can get some perspective.
We saw also supercities, like Los Angeles, and long straight roads, we saw also Seattle and Vancouver from some distance. And in LA we saw so many cars, like small ants going somewhere, you could wonder where does all this people go all the time. Then you think (or I think) that we are so alike, everyone wanting to have a house close to the other people and then going to work, coming back, finding something to do with your free time...
Yeah, well, I'm back on the ground (am I grounded then?) but it's ok, things look bigger, and sometimes I come back to the clouds in my mind and imagine the clouds over the sea and play some Dido song and everything is perfect.
