Long time ago...

I had a friend that used to say that everybody should have a song to sing walking in the side of the roads. She also thought that in Europe the sky was bluer than in America. We were in America then, sixteen and seventeen, and she was from Hong Kong. If we look back on time we can find in some of our friends part of our abilities, like when we started learning to play the guitar, when we found how much we loved basket...
Anyway, I remember some of these long conversations we had sometimes and how we talked about hapiness, in Occident we think in hapiness like in a moment, a moment of hapiness, and she said that why should that be only a moment, why couldnt we be happy for a long time. Think about it, all your life searching for happiness and when it comes, one moment, and then is gone... She thought that it could be longer, like a state of life, then you can be down sometimes but you could say I´m happy with my life. Sometimes I think in this conversation and I try to remember one of Pessoa´s phrases ¨Why to be happy is necessary not to know it?¨. And I wonder if is really necessary. I hope not.

To Serine
