Not nostalgic at all

My aunt wrote an email to the family that inspired me, she's been together with my uncle for 30 years. We've been together for 8 years (yeah already!), this is a picture of us in Uruguay in March this year. We were soo young then but it was pretty clear from the beginning that it was us, that we found in each other someone very special.
It all started in Madrid, with our international group of friends, we were studying, sometimes, but most of the time we were going around, going out, having parties, travelling, talking about life... Then I met Johannes, we started being friends and trying to talk in really noisy pubs, I thought he was cute, I noticed how he listened and then how he looked at me. It's funny we cannot remember exactly which day we started being together, that weekend in November, if it was on a Friday or a Saturday. It was of course after this party in Monicas place, when I was pretending to fall asleep, then we went out dancing and we kissed. The day after we met, and the next day and the day after... Our hands touched as if we'll never let go and when we looked at each other we just couldn't stop staring. Well you'll say that's just falling in love, same old story. And maybe it is but that was just the beginning. That was Madrid, then came Uppsala, we grow together. First it was a new land for me, a new language, the coldness, not always easy but then I met some very good friends, I started the PhD, Johannes finished the internship, we went to Spain many times, we travelled around the world, we got married, then I finished my PhD, Johannes started a PhD... There are so many things I could tell you, but I'll leave it here, sometimes I like to stop and look back on time, it's not nostalgic, I don't think past times were always better, but they can remind you your story and who you are.
